I have an AP1200 that frequently fails to show the web admin console, but instead, shows a generic white page "Accessing Cisco AIR-AP1231G-A-K9".
I can still log in via ssh, and checking the directory, I get "%Error opening flash:/ (Invalid argument)".
As far as I can tell, clients can still associate to it, but this happens quite frequently. I needed to reinstall the firmware to correct this.
The IOS version is c1200-k9w7-mx.123-8.JA2 which is the most recent on cisco's website. Halting and reloading does not fix the problem.
Thanks!

Could it be a firewall / pop-up blocker on the PC (works on one PC, but not another)?
Verify that the AP is set to use unencrypted ("http://" not "https://") browser connections.
If it only doesn't work for SSL ("https://") then look at the MTU and make sure it is at least as big as the client; encrypted traffic doesn't usually allow fragmentation.
Verify that the web/http service is enabled.
Try other browsers (IE should work).
Let us know
Good Luck

Thanks for the suggestions, but that's not it. The web admin works initially, when it was set up, when it was put in place, and at lease a couple of weeks later. I have several other APs with similiar setups, but those are working. I did verify that I used the https: connection.
I'm thinking it has something to do with the fact that the flash:/ directory is having problems with the messages "%Error opening flash:/ (Invalid argument)" when I issue the command "dir". I should at least see the flash image, right? I don't think it's corrupted since it will restart properly with a "reload" command.

i HAD the same problem you have... I succesfully upgraded vxworks to ios.(actually not successfully cause i had to do the recovery process over the null modem, 1 hour!) and then i successully ftp the new 12.3(8)ja on to the 1220.
and then i got what you got
"shows a generic white page "Accessing Cisco AIR-AP1231G-A-K9". "
After 3 days of scratching my head
I DID A HARD RESET!
VOILLA!

Hard reset by unplugging the power supply? Yeah, I did that, it didn't work, I still get the generic white page.

no hard reset by plugging in the power while holding the mode button (next to the console cable) untill the middle led stays oranage.
thats a hard reset!
Hey i got a 1220b that i upgraded from vxworks to ios and then ftp the new 12.3(8)ja and now it boots up and says
ap:
at the console
any recovery from this?

Oh, I see, but I was afraid of using that because that loses all the settings and configuration. That's what I had to use before, I'm just wondering if there's any reason for when the http admin stops working.

can any one help me setting up tftp server on ubuntu, or simply mepis or fedora?
cant get any of em to upload the tar to 1220ap
seems straight forward but easier said then done. or would it be easier to setup a tftp server in windoze?

You'll need to re-load the IOS.
Good Luck

I am also seeing this issue on a 1231G and a hard reset does not do anything to fix it

Okay, I downloaded, checked the md5, and installed the latest IOS again. I needed to reconfigure the entire thing, but it works now. Hopefully, it will stay working.
