I'm working with a customer that has several Cisco 1230s with the mode button disabled. Is there anyway to recover these access points? The previous admin changed the usernames/passwords on the access points before leaving, and now we cannot reset the access points with the mode button to reconfigure them.

The AP MODE button is configured from your Cisco Wireless LAN Controller.
On the WLC use the following commands:
1) config ap rst-button enable
2) show ap config general
Where access-point-name is the name that identifies the access point on the WLC

Thanks for the reply. This is an autonomous access point, not an LWAPP.

For autonomous, type the following command:
boot mode-button

Great idea, cept we don't have the username/password to log into the access point.

there are two settings: mode button and
Both are stored in NVRAM.
If the ESC key doesnt work either you need to either: remember the login password or contact TAC for an RMA.

Yup, I guess that it is bricked. It is an old 1230 without smartnet.

No other trick, unfortunately.
