poe for 1524 access points

Hi,

I had a basic question about PoE operation on 1524 ap's. They have two Poe ports; poe out and poe in.

If the 1524 will be connected to a PoE supported switch like 3750, which port should the UTP cable be connected from 1524 towards the switch port, PoE OUT or PoE IN?

lastly, if the 1524 is connected via UTP to a PoE supported switch, does it need power injectors.

Appreciate all help.

Re: poe for 1524 access points

Hi,

Poe-in is to provide your ap with power to work.

Poe-outnis used if you want the ap to provide power to another device ( for example if you have mesh ap mounted on a pole and there is a poe camera on same pole then you can provide camera with power from poe-out on the ap.

Note that if you use power injector to power the ap (on power-in) then poe-out is disabled.

Poe-out is only enabled if you use power source to power the AP

Power injector is needed for the ap to work. Normal poe switches do not provide this ap with needed power. This outdoor ap consumes more power than what poe switches can provide.

poe for 1524 access points

Hey,

The access point supports an Ethernet uplink port (POE-In) and a downlink port (POE-Out). The access point's Ethernet uplink port uses an RJ-45 connector (with weatherproofing) to link the access point to the 10BASE-T, 100BASE-T, or 1000BASE-T network. The Ethernet cable is used to send and receive Ethernet data and to optionally supply inline 56-VDC power from the power injector. The minimum length of this cable must be not less than 10 feet (3 meters).

The access point's downlink Ethernet port uses an RJ-45 connector (with weatherproofing) to provide LAN connectivity and IEEE 802.3af power to a peripheral customer device, such as a camera or sensor gateway. The BVI MAC addresses are printed on the label on the side of the access point

To provide inline PoE, you must use the 1520 series power injector. Other power injectors, PoE switches, and 802.3af power sources cannot provide adequate power, which may cause the access point to malfunction and cause over-current conditions at the power source. You must ensure that the switch port connected to the access point has PoE turned off.

Hope This Helps.
