Question regarding High Availability with AP groups and HREAP APs

Hi,

We have a couple of WLCs in our central office, The secondary WLC is sitting idle and waiting for the APs that are associated to the Primary WLC to join in case the primary WLC goes down. We have all the APs configured with the Primary and secondary WLC ip addresses under high availability tab.

We also have a lot of HREAP APs associated to the primary WLC. The HREAP APs belonging to different locations are grouped using AP groups.

Now if the primary WLC was to go down, I guess the APs will automatically join the Secondary controller, but will the APs associate themselves to the appropriate AP groups? Also, will they retain their Hreap Vlan configurations for local switching?

Thank you,

Jino

Re: Question regarding High Availability with AP groups and HREA

So long as you have the groups configured and the WLAN in the same order it should work fine with HREAP failover.

Re: Question regarding High Availability with AP groups and HREA

Hi Steve,

Thank you for your response.

As it is required to add the associated APs manually to the AP group, will the failed over AP automatically associate to the appropriate AP groups?

Thanks,

Jino

So long as everything is the same, yes they will.
