Roaming 802.11b and GPRS

Walking around the Networkers 2001 in Copenhagen I think to remember that i've seen a solution installed on an iPaq which was be able to roam between 802.11b and GPRS. This was demonstrated by Cisco in the Exhibition-Area of Wireless-Living.

Now somebody is asking me exactly for that.

Does anybody remember, or know details about this or any similar solution.

You probably saw a prototype or demo version of a Mobile IP Client software running on the iPAQ.

Mobile IP is supported in Cisco IOS. The Mobile IP Home Agent running on a Cisco router provides the network side functionality. Add to this the Mobile IP Client software running on the end user equipment (such as a laptop or an iPaq)and you get seamless roaming across multiple subnets, link types, etc. In this case across 802.11b and GPRS.
