Simultaneous MESH and ACCESS mode

HI,

I would like to ask if Cisco Access Points (both indoor and outdoor) can act both as an endpoint access and at the same time as mesh for mobile APs.

Im planning to use 1530 outdoor and 2600 indoor Access Points inside a warehouse. Two of the 1530s will be transferred from time to time inside the warehouse with no assurance of network cable in the area.

Thanks!

Mesh does the backhaul in the 5ghz and client access on the 2.4ghz by default. You can enable client access on the 5ghz if you want also. I don't enable this because I don't want users taking up the throughout for the backhaul. If you take a look at the mesh guides, it will explain the backhaul and client access in detail.

Thanks alot Scott.

I believe 2.4Ghz alone is enough as this will be only use for barcode inventory. I am more concerned with the range than the throughput so 2.4Ghz would suffice.

Well you still need to treat this the same as indoor. You want to match up the TX power of your barcode scanners TX power. Typically using the EIRP because of the higher gain antennas of the mesh AP's. This will prevent one way communication from client to AP.
