Hi...

I have a Cisco Wireless LAN Controller 4402 mode with Software version : 4.0.155.5. It support only 12 Accesspoints. I have connected 12 access points already. All the aps connected are AIR-LAP1131AG-A-K9 with software verion : 4.0.155.5.

Now I want to connect two additinal aps to the same WLC. What is the possible way to do this. How can I increase the no. of aps supported. Is it possible if I upgrade the software for WLC 4402. Will the present 12 APs (AIR-LAP1131AG-A-K9 with software verion : 4.0.155.5) be supported if I upgrade the software to version 5?

HI Labeeb,

First of all 4400 WLC is EOL/EOS.

So it will better to buy a new one either 2500 or 55000 series WLC:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/wireless/ps6302/ps8322/ps6366/end_of_life_notice_c51-634665.html

Just for info: 4400 WLC last support is 7.0.x.

So if you want u can Upgrade it and 1131 AP will support it.

For Incraese the AP licence on WLC: I am not sure that u will get a adder license now because its EOL/EOS.

If I buy 2500 or 5500 series, Will the 1131AP be supported?

Is there an EOL/EOS for the 1130 series ap in the near future? We have a lot of them as well as 1142's.

We have the AIR-LAP1131 which is still supported on version 7.6 of the WLC5508. But after reading you link it seems like it might be the last version of WLC firmware that supports that type of AP

Might be, only cisco know about this :)

Check this matrix for compatibility for AP and WLC:

The license of the 4400 is hard-coded.  It was not designed for pay-as-you-grow.

Newer WLC such as the base model, WLC 2504, can support pay-as-you-grow.  You start with 5 APs and can potentially grow up to 75 supported APs.

If you get the newer models, your current AP will still be supported.
