If you http into the Automous AP, set it to 60% power output.

It depends on the device you will be using on the wlan. If you have wireless IP Phones that requires 25mW, then survey at 25mW. Some IP Phones might allwo you to go to 50mW. For data, you should stick to 50mW but again it depends on what devices you have. So on your autonomous AP:

100mW = 20dBi

50mW = 17dBi

25mW = 14dBi

Thanks for the feedback I have been told by the makers of the survey software we use they recommend surveying at 25mW and not 50mW for data or voice as areas surveyed at 50mW are at the top power setting.

Confused now but thanks for the feedback

Re: Test AP Tx level when Wlan Surveying

25mW is a safe bet and usually is required for voice. 50mW is max TX on some if the 5ghz channels. So you set the power level that suits your requirements. If 802.11a is not required the 2.4ghz will max at 100mW. So figure out if 802.11a is required and go from there. Also try to use the same ap and antenna you plan on installing.
