Windows Mobile 8.1 DHCP issue

Hi there

our customer has the following setup:

1 x WLC 5760 with IOS XE 03.03.03 -> planned to upgrade to 03.06.00 in a few days

n x Cisco Aironet 3702i access points

There are no problems at all with most of the client devices, but some clients with Windows Mobile 8.1 do not get an IP address via DHCP. The authentication and association to the SSID works fine (even tested without any L2 encryption), the DHCP requests gets to the DHCP server (in this case a small checkpoint firewall -> use only for "guest" access) and the server is offering a DHCP lease. But anyhow, the client does not acknowledge these offers and "fails" to connect to the SSID.

Does anybody have the same problems with Windows Mobile 8.1 on any kind of WLC platform?

Thanks in advance and best regards

Dominic

Just try this:

1. disable DHCP

2. Try to disable IPV6.

Disable IPv6 option

3. Enable DHCp again.

and try to connect again with WLAN.

Hope it helps.

Hi Sandeep

thanks for your feedback, but these are Windows phones and I don't know if they support IPv6?

Best regards

Hello Dominic, I realize this was over 2 years ago.

Having this issue now and matches your issue, did you find a fix?

Hi joshhunter

we never found a solution on the Cisco WLC 5760, but we switched to Cisco WLC 5520 and WLC version 8.1 and the problem was solved.

Sorry for not having a better solution for you.

Best regards

Dominic

Thanks Dominic, if I find an answer I will post here =)

Hi Sandeep

we disabled IPv6 and also upgraded to IOS XE 03.06.03 in the meantime.

Same problem still exists. Any other person with the same problem?

Best regatds

Dominic
