Wireless Client not pingable to peers but pingable to wired network

Hi,

Have anybody encounter any problem in getting wireless client to ping to each other in the wireless zone with 802.1Q enabled and multi-vlan environment. My problem is that wireless client both associated to the same AP and on the same SSID just cannot ping to each other but can ping to another other devices on the wired LAN.

Regards.

Do you have Public Secure Packet Forwarding disabled?

On the IOS version it is set on the Interface, Settings screen. It should be disabled if you need communication between clients.

Hi,

My APs are all running VxWorks version 12.01T. Any ideal where PSPF will be set??

Thanks in advance.

U have to check advanced tab below express setup, then select yes radio button to enable Block ALL Inter-Client Communications (PSPF)

I did some test and notice if you set the 'Single VLAN which allows Unencrypted packets' to the native VLAN id, clients associated to the same AP can now ping to each other but not across APs. I have install in another environment running 802.1x and did not face this problem at all.

hi,

Have tested and must enable WEP keys on the client and AP to allow peer-to-peer communications.

Re: Wireless Client not pingable to peers but pingable to wired

Hi,

I am having the same problem.

If "Open" or "WEP" is not on option is there any other work around?

I am positive PSPF is not enabled and things don't work. When I do a "arp -a" from the clients I cannot see each otehrs mac-addresses, only the AP.

From the AP and any other device on the network there is complete connectivity, just not between the wireless clients.

Any pointers will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Joe
