Wireless Connectivity Issues Cisco WLC with 6.0.196.0 code.

I have a Cisco NME-AIR-WLC8-K9 running on 6.0.196.0  code. We have 3 1131 access points + 2 1121 access points providing sufficient coverage of our  entire building. I have verified it is not a coverage issue. This  problem is only happening with two computers. The  authentication is  WPA2-PSK, AES.

When people (All Microsoft  Windows XP) get on the wireless they are getting randomly disconnected  from the WLAN at random times, it pops right back up but it interrupts  their processes they are running and they have to start over. I found  logs on the WLC saying this for 1 client.

That  pretty much repeats, that is the only log I can see at all with this  client. I tested with my MAC and am not having this issue at all, any  clues?

Re: Wireless Connectivity Issues Cisco WLC with 6.0.196.0 code.

Could be the drivers of the wireless NICs.

Re: Wireless Connectivity Issues Cisco WLC with 6.0.196.0 code.

Maybe.

But I've googled the same troubles from another people:

For example:

http://www.experts-exchange.com/Hardware/Networking_Hardware/Wireless/Access_Points/802.11_Wireless/Q_24759815.html

https://cisco-support.hosted.jivesoftware.com/thread/2017604?tstart=0

http://www.google.com/#hl=en&source=hp&q=DOT1X-3-MAX_EAPOL_KEY_RETRANS

And I see

Error Message    %DOT1X-3-PSK_CONFIG_ERR: Client [hex]:[hex]:[hex]:[hex]:[hex]:[hex]
may be using an incorrect PSK

Explanation   A client may be attempting to access the network with an improperly  configured PSK.

Recommended Action   Ensure that user  credentials are correct on the client and on the AAA server

But I've correct key. And it's work for 5 minutes, then don't work and work again. It's like link "blinking"

Re: Wireless Connectivity Issues Cisco WLC with 6.0.196.0 code.

The second link has different log messages than you are seeing the third link is to google and I dont subscribe to experts exchange.

However as leo said it could be the drivers!

You say only two computers are experiencing this issue. Now if I have 100 computers and 2 have issues I say its a computer issue. Which would indicate drivers.

If you found an alternative answer in the three threads great however the advice is offered freely.

Re: Wireless Connectivity Issues Cisco WLC with 6.0.196.0 code.

Ok. I try explain.

I have 4 ssid on my controller.

- WAP2+Enterprise auth - about 10 users here

- WEP+dot1x auth - about 3 users here

- WPA2-psk - about 40 users here. Without any problems

- WPA2-psk - 2 users here. We have a problem for both.

I try to change drivers if I can. Because it's Lenovo notebook with Lenovo drivers.

Re: Wireless Connectivity Issues Cisco WLC with 6.0.196.0 code.

I have had issues on 6.0.196.0 with all clients associated with the same AP closing connectivity all at once, and found that the issue was due to the AP randomly stopping sending beacons.  This was related to an issue with multicast being enabled on the controller.  Once multicast was disabled, beacons were no longer missed.

Not sure if it is related to your issue, but it may help someone

Re: Wireless Connectivity Issues Cisco WLC with 6.0.196.0 code.

Which multicast option?

Is the AP Multicast Mode what you are referencing?

Having the exact same issue with 6.0.196 and 1242 access points.

Re: Wireless Connectivity Issues Cisco WLC with 6.0.196.0 code.

Its the Enable Global Multicast Mode under Controller>Multicast.  After disabling it I stopped missing beacons, and was able to confirm by the CLI commands issued on the AP I included below (anything <5 is generally ok).  Cisco said it was isolated to 1140 APs, and that is what i had experienced this with, but quite possible it affects other models as well.
