Wireless Hopping, Cisco AP 1200

Hello,

Does the Cisco AP 1200 support wireless hopping? If so, what is the maximum number of wireless hops it can support?

Any information would be greatly appreciated,

Thank you for your assistance,

Best regards,

Ros

Not sure what you mean for "wireless hopping"... BUT..AP1200 doesn't support "Frequency Hopping"..AP1200 is a "Direct Sequence" product..

Here is the url has a specification for AP1200...

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/pcat/airo1200.htm

Hope that answers your question..Thanks..Tejal

Re: Wireless Hopping, Cisco AP 1200

My guess is that you are talking about repeater mode. Cisco APs do support operating in repeater mode, as documented here;

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/wireless/airo1200/accsspts/ap120scg/bkscgch8.htm#xtocid1

I believe up to 6 hops are theoretically possible, but as a general rule more than 2 hops is not recommended. Each repeater tends to half the bandwidth.it Each AP first has to receive a frame and then retransmit it.
