Wireless Outdoor Bridge Distance

I have a customer that wants to use a 1532I bridge to connect two buildings.  The buildings are about 700 feet apart with a clear LoS between the two points.  Would the 1532I reach this distance?

if you get the E series you can better shape the RF perhaps.

A 1532i should work just as well as an old 1310 at 700feet.  Doing the external antenna version would limit you to 2x2 streams using 2 antennas each end.  3x3 streams are available with the internal antenna version.

I don't know if I agree without testing. Here is why, mimo requires mutipath reflection to take full advantage of multi streams ..

humm,  that might suggest a single transmitter in Bridge mode with a 54mbps limit.  Yes the multipath elements might be a bit meager in the short range outdoor environment.  I was thinking of cross-pol antennas if external, but I don't know what RF logic Cisco is employing as compared to Radwin or Ubiquiti.  I don't think his range is an issue as they are typical of the dozen or so I have.

It's been two years since your post.  Did you go with the 1532i finally ?  Is it working over 5 or 2.4 Ghz.  What's the max speed ?

I'm looking for a similar scenario, only difference is the distance at approx 400 feet.

400' isn't far. The question that needs to be asked is what throughout are you looking for. The data sheet shows you at what RSSI what data rate negotiations can be met.

Hi Dominic,

I don't believe our customer went forward with implementation.  However, I have done this with another customer about a year ago.  Except we used a 1532i and three 1532's for a point-multipoint solution.  The longest distance was about 800 feet and it worked just fine.
