WiSM and IPv6 provisioning

we have migrated from WLSM to WiSM ( To enable IPv6 for the clients on the WLSM it was enough to give either the VLAN-if or the tunnel-if a valid IPv6 address and the attached clients had the possibility to retrieve an IPv6 address via auto-discovery.

With the WiSM we need to enable IPv6 provisioning in the WLAN configuration screen. But the clients associated to this WLAN then still cannot discover a vaild IPv6 address. Is there anything more we need to do? I mean, the functionality was perfect with the WLSM ... ... .

How can I debug? There seems to be no documentation on that. Pls help.

Re: WiSM and IPv6 provisioning

Hello Joerg,

I would say that if the DHCP server is correct on the interface tied to that WLAN then you should be good.

For debugs,I would capture:

debug dhcp packet enable

debug dhcp events enable

From this output we should be able to determine the issue.

Re: WiSM and IPv6 provisioning

Hello Aaron,

we tried IPv6 auto discovery and static IPv6 addresses. Both did not work with the WiSM. They did work with the WLSM though.

Then I discivered that it starts working if I go to CONTROLLER and set "Ethernet Multicast Mode" to "Unicast". I see not why this is though and wether it is intended behaviour in terms of IPv6 or not.

Since we need to have a stable IPv6 network platform I need to find this out.
