Adding media Server in 7.5.1: Operation failed: Maximum number of servers...

Greetings everyone. I'm bringing a fresh set of systems on line and I've got 2 C240 boxes. The first one is up running with VSOM and Media Services running on box 1. The second box is up and running with only Media Services and I'm trying to add this Media Server under the location in VSOM but every time I attempt it everything goes fine until the end and it tanks with the error: Operation failed: Maximum number of servers allowed by the system is reached. Cannot allow more than 1 servers. Any thoughts on why this would be doing this? Why is it only allowing one media server?

Have you added the required Media Server license to VSOM to allow registering additional VSMS instances?

L-CPS-MS-SW7=

is the SKU I think...

Without additional licensing, the VSOM instance will only register a single VSMS instance.

The details covering how to apply the licensing appears to start near page 1-21 of the 'Cisco Video Surveillance Manager Operations Manager User Guide'

Cheers!

Thank you, Scott. I did read through the documentation however I never saw any mention of the license. I have not added any additional licenses the boxes came pre-populated with licensing and honestly I assumed that was all that was needed. Thanks so much for your response I'll review my docs and the licenses sent to me and comment back on this.

Depends on how the second server was ordered up... was *any* license line item on the bill of material?

Yes one license was added.

You may just need to speak to your Cisco account rep / TAC to get the licensing straightened out.  If you have a Media Server license for each physical chassis, you should be able to do what you are attempting.

Let me know how it turns out!

Have a good weekend!

OK I did find the info in the VSOM Users Guide. It starts on 1-28. I have two boxes and my vendor provided a single license for me. The way I read it however is that the a server comes licensed for a Media and Manager. I would think the single license I added to allow me to add an additional Media server however the server used it for itself and says none available for adding. I'm going to open a TAC and see what their take is on my issue.
