I have users with MAC, they want to use Windows(by running as VM Instance) on Mac machine.

It is randomly working for few users only not all. Any comments on this will be helpful.

Most of the users get Client Error " Insufficient client resource"

Below are the config where it is not working

Mac OS:  10.7.4

Virtual Box Version: 4.1.22 r80657

Windows OS: Win 7 Pro SP1 64bit w/2 GB Memory

IE : ver 9.x

Thanks

HI,

I think this is problem with video card virtualization on VM.

Maybe vmware workstation can this.

This is *heavily* dependent on the version of VSM you are running.

You will have little success with VSM 6.X, especially if VMR (Video Mixing Renderer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_Mixing_Renderer ) is being utilized.  It has historically been one of the few things that can't effectively be virtualized (hence the "Insufficient client resources" message).  The VM can't instantiate the required Direct Show filer to render the video as the capability just isn't there in the VM.

You'll find that if the defined video stream doesn't leverage this renderer, the VM could possibly display it (MJPEG, etc..).

I haven't done much experimentation with VSM7 in a *virtualized* environment, but I do believe it is considerably more flexible.

Best of luck,

Just an update that 7.5 appears to offer *beta* support for alternate platforms and browsers:

"

Cisco VSM Release 7.5 supports basic live video display using the Chrome and Firefox web browsers

on Windows and Linux workstations. The Chrome, Firefox and Safari browsers are supported on Mac

workstations.

This browser support is in “Beta” for Release 7.5 to gather feedback on the platforms and browsers that

are most important to users.

"

There are known limitations, so you should review the Release Notes yourself.

Cheers!

We have a system running 7.5 and Chrome is supported for live viewing only, None of the OSD (camera name, network status, control bar) are viewable which will definitely confuse some users IMHO.

In short you need the system requirements to view video in VSOM. Please provide what version VSM you are using and the system specs of the client and the specs that you are allowing the VM to utilize.

overall for 7.0 and above this is a good doc to get started with

i know this thread is old but VSM 7.9 now supports HTML 5 so VSOM will work on a MAC.
