Problem viewing video on CIVS-IPC-3520

We just purchase a few CIVS-IPC-3520, indoor HD cameras, and can not see the video on the web interface to adjust the cameras.

I first tried with a Windows 7, IE8 laptop, and it will not load the needed activeX files to view the camera.  I then tried a very old laptop with Windows XP and IE8 and it did work.  I have even upgraded the firmware to the latest (V1.4.1-97), which will not work with our current version of VSOM, 6.3.3, and it still does not allow us to view the video.

Does anyone know of any tricks to get these cameras to show video on the web interface to adjust the camers at installation?  I just dont think that I should have to use 10 year old tech to install something that is brand new.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Doug

Doug,

I can't tell you precisley what "it" is in your case, but it is always something with IE and security. Try disabling protected mode, add the camera as a trusted site, compatibility mode etc. Tweaking (or completley disabling) antivirus, protected mode, and security settings will allow it to work.

I've had similar issues in the past with browsers not initiating the installation of the "CameraUIControl" msi package (or more likely, the camera not initiating the process properly).

I've gone in (via SSH on the cameras themselves) and have gently collected the CameraUIControl MSI packages manually... then installed them on any problem workstations.

I'd post/share them to see if it solves your problem, but I don't want to upset any forum admins or break any rules regarding the sharing of software.  Try the recommendations from Jason above first... see if that gets you past this.

Cheers!

I finally found the file that needed installed and did it manually.

You download https://10.30.49.XX/utility/CameraUIControlV2.cab. Put in your camera's IP address of course. Save file to your computer, extract files and run the file CameraUIControl.msi. This installed the needed software and worked for me.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.   But I think these cameras are going back to Cisco.  The zoom and focus are not positioned where you can get to them when cameras is adjusted.  Poor design.  Looking at upgrading to the 6020's with motorized zoon and focus.

Glad I could be of assistance.

Cheers!

Okay, so I had the same problem when we receivied the 3520's on campus in December.  I was able to download the program from the camera utility folder and install the program successfully when running it from the desktop.  I was then able to view video on a camera I was staging in my office.  Fast forward to Friday when I was actually installing the cameras and now I cannot view video again from the PCs that I was previously viewing video.  When bringing up the camera video feed, I get a message that says the Camera UI is not installed.  However, I can open the programs list and see that it is still installed.  Tried uninstalling it, rebooting and re-installing without success.  The install program starts gathering information and then it goes off into la la land.  Running this on Win 7 Enteprise Edition and IE 9 and IE 10.

Interesting.  Have their IP addresses changed?  Has your browser changed significantly?

Have you updated the firmware on the cameras... as this may have changed the CameraUI version.

I recommend doublechecking to ensure the IP endpoint (or relevant subnet wildcard) is under the "trusted sites" in the browser security settings.

Cheers!

Browser has not changed significantly.

I did update the firmware on one of the cameras but the the UI was the same version.

I have updated the trusted sites info.

What didn't make sense is that it was working.  I had to download the cameraUI from the camera and run it locally to get it to install correctly when I did this in December but now it doesn't want to work no matter where I install from.

I know this sucks, and in no way excuses the behaviour of the native UI, but have you tried fully removing the installed Camera UI application and re-installing it from the cab source on the camera?

Again, not really an ideal solution, but more of a troubleshooting exercise.

What firmware are you running now? You said that you updated the firmware? Do you have Protected Mode on or off? Per1.4.1 release notes, you MUST view this in IE 32 bit mode. In other words protected mode must be turned off and IE restarted. Once restarted and you have downloaded the client software from Cisco.com you will be able to view video.

IE could have updated since then.

Please note that there is a new firmware version out for this model which now work in Chrome and Firefox as Beta.

Cisco *really* needs to fix this ridiculous matrix of browser support for their various products.  It's extremely embarassing.

Scott,

I know it is frustrating. We are moving all future support to firefox and chrome now with VSM 7.5. We hope it will better suite everyone in the future.
