Hello,
This is probably a silly question, but I've been scratching my head for a while now.
In VSM 7, there are 4 options for recording (none, continuous, motion only, continuous + mark motion).
What exactly does that 4th option do? I set it up on a couple test cameras, but as far as I can tell there is no marking going on. I looked in SASD alert centric as well as the available streams. I read the manual and it says that button creates a continuous loop and marks motion, but it doesn't say where to look to see those marked motion events
I understand the button to the far right in the Alert Notifications column creates alerts in SASD alert centric workspace. How does this continuous + mark motion differ from that button (highlighted in red below)?

Hey Jason,
Well, I like to think of it like the following;
"There is a continuous video loop of a given duration... and events also dribble out the 'back-end' of this loop for an alternate duration."
I'll try to illustrate:
(1) - This defines the "continuous duration" loop. Video within this time frame will be recorded, regardless of activity.
(2) - This defined the "event retention" duration. Video that has been flagged as being an 'event' (typically motion) will be retained up to this duration before being purged.
(3) - As you've stated above, this needs to be enabled if you want actual notifications for the related events.
Now, what does this actually look like? Hopefully this helps:
Here I've tried to highlight what the archive bar looks like with both a (1) continuous loop, and (2) event retention duration.
Hope this helps!

Ah that makes total sense now. Thank you for the explaination and illustration.
