Upgrading from VSOM 3.1 to 6.3.2 is possible, and is made relatively painless by a shell script written by a colleague of mine. You can find a link to the Cisco VSM Software Assistant for version 6.3.2 here:
How to use the script to perform and install or upgrade
Download the necessary .zip files from Cisco.com
Copy them to the VSM server in any directory
Copy this script to the same directory as the .zip files
Make this script executable (chmod +x vsmSoftware632.sh)
Run the script (./vsmSoftware632.sh)
Answer simple questions when prompted.
This tool performs all of the necessary command line operations for you, in a menu-driven format. Upgrade from 3.1.1/5.1.1 to VSM 6.3.2 is supported. You will of course want to ensure all media servers and the VSOM server are upgraded to the same version.
