My client has a bunch of IBM X series servers running VMware 5.0. They have on board ethernet NIC and an Intel 82580 two port 1Gb expansion card.
These are uplinked to 2248TP FEX then through to 5548UPs.
The onboard NICs work fine but the 82580s always negotiate 100mb full duplex which is too slow and also breaks the vPC since the other port in the vPC is from the onboard card which has negotiated 1gb as expected.
If I manually set the 2K port to 1gb and set the 82580 card to 1gb as well then it works fine. I dont like having to do this though.
Anyone else seen weird auto negotiation issues with these cards ? It's years since I saw auto negotiation fail. The server team claim thjat they are using the latest card drivers.
