BBSM - internet access

BBSM5.3 Pre-Loaded Server

I have configured the BBSM to allow wireless laptop users on the 255 vlan to access the internet. This wireless connection works fine, however when I try to hard wire the laptop directly to the same switch as BBSM and configure the interface to be on the same client network vlan 255. The BBSM comes up with a network error page.

The laptop is being issued with the correct ip address for vlan 255 in both cases and there should not be much difference in the configuration apart from the laptop being hard wired.

Does anyone know what the issue might be ?

Yep - I spent ages messing with this product before getting round to reading the documentation properly :-)

Basically you need to make sure you've added the switch as a network device similar to the way you must have done the AP - I assume you've done this.

Secondly, you need to specify the SNMP string with a suffix of the VLAN number in order for BBSM to search the right VLAN.

E.g. your SNMP RW community is:

SNMP

Put in the config:

SNMP@255
