Connecting switch to ADSL router

I have a 4 port ADSL router with a 2MG internet conection. Are there any issues connecting a 10/100 24-port switch to one of the ports ?

Re: Connecting switch to ADSL router

Hi

It depends upon the port type you have in the ADSL router it may be of in built switch port which normally comes up with the small range routers.

Better find out the kinda ports available in the router so that you can start interfacing the router port with the external switch.

if its a cisco router find out the model of the router which you are using up over there once you are done with that you can refer the data sheets to find out the kinda ports you have with the particular model then you can start doing the interfacing process..

Re: Connecting switch to ADSL router

If the ADSL router has a 4 port switch on it, then you will probably need a cross-over cable to connect to another switch.

If the ports are mdix compatible, then it should configure automatically.
