dynamic or static IP required

I have a 871-K9 router and want to set up a 2003 server behind this. Cable modem IP is dynamic and tracked by Dynip service - can the 871 be configured to assign static IP to the server with access through the cable modem and router?

Re: dynamic or static IP required

the ip address with dhcp will probably not change since the router will typically assign it the same ip address to it's MAC address.

put this in your config

#ip dhcp excluded-address 192.168.xx.xx

where the number is your server, then just go into the server and put in that static address
