how to setup back-to-back ADSL connection

I'm a student in networking field, and then I come out with my project title which to demonstrate the alternate backup link using ADSL technology. The problem is, I don't know how to setup the ADSL physical connection using end to end connection (router to router).Because I want to show and demonstrate the backup function. For this simulation, the dedicated v.35 (DCE and DTE) with 2 MB speed operate like leased line (primary line). How about the secondary line which is ADSL connection?

For this demonstration, the primary link is dedicated v.35 DCE&DTE acts as a leased line. While I want to use ADSL as backup link (secondary link). The question is how to setup ADSL connection as backup connection (secondary link)?

Really want help.

For information, see the attachment.

Here i attach the picture for information.

with adsl u need only normal fasethernet port

see this link but this link loadbalnce the traffic

if u want the adsl as backup only

just on the default route that point to the adsl increas the metric

for example

if u have seriel interface primary and adsl dialer interface back up u could have these static routes

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 interface serial0

ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 interface dialer0 5

the 5 mean the metric default for static route is 1 so the first route through the seril interface will be used if down the second one will be considered thorugh the dialer0 over adsl

Hi marwanshawi thanks for the reply.

My problem is how to built the adsl connection first?

Connection type,cable type,hardware type.

The file attach is my own thinking.I don't know weither it runnig or not,can modem to modem communnicate?

ok

sorry because i dint read all ur post

first adsl to adsl can be done trough the internet

but each router or at least one router need to have static IP

and the connection should be over VPN

so for ur simulation u can use normal fasethernet or ethernet as the adsl over internet connection the idea same but u gonna simulate it only

but over internet u need static ip address fron the service provider and u can build the connection thorugh vpn

adsl comes over telephon network the ISP after u subsecribe with them they give u user name password and modem the modem has to connections one gose to the telephon line and the other is normal rj45 ethernet gose to ur router

the connection known as pppoe

or pppoa

for my demonstration to demonstrate the adsl as secondary link, it's can only be done trough the internet? If i don't to subscribe?

because i only want to demonstrate it.

as i told u use normal ethernet cable from router to router as directly connected

which simulate a backup link

this link in real lif coud be adsl, cable modem or whatever link

the impotrtant think in ur demonstration is to show the primary link and the redundant back up link

good luck :)

if i using normal ethernet cable as directly connected to simulate backup link using adsl, it is can show the adsl technology, function? because my issue is to used adsl to replace isdn as backup link.

no it will not show

but as a real life with adsl u gonna use ethernet and u configure dialer interface as u seen it in the links i sent u

so actualy it will be similer but not exactly

the same

Ok..I try lookin first..

Thanks ya!
