ISDN not correctly dialling out

3660 ----------isdn---------------2851

ISDN line running bidirectionally between two routers. IOS has been upgraded recently on the 3660, but ISDN has worked since then - problems started occurring this weekend.

2851 can dial 3660, but no ISDN connectivity.

3660 doesn't dial 2851 at all.

This set up has worked before, with everything exactly as it is.

----------------------------------

* From the debug q921/q931 from 'hqdr01' (3660) side, get the following message:

IOS: "c3660-jk9s-mz.123-16.bin"

ISDN BR1/3 **ERROR**: host_incoming_call: Incoming call id 0xCA0 rejected, exceeded allowed number of calls Current 2, Maximum 2

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

* On remote side from debugs 'eulurt2a' (Luxemburg), get following error:

IOS: "c2800nm-advipservicesk9-mz.123-8.T6.bin"

*Oct 25 10:23:05: ISDN BR1/0 Q931: DISCONNECT pd = 8 callref = 0x87

Cause i = 0x8492 - No user responding

*Oct 25 10:23:05: BRI1/0: wait for isdn carrier timeout, call id=0xA80F

*Oct 25 10:23:28: ISDN BR1/1 Q931: DISCONNECT pd = 8 callref = 0x88

Cause i = 0x8492 - No user responding

*Oct 25 10:23:28: ISDN BR1/1 Q921: User TX -> RR sapi=0 tei=66 nr=0

*Oct 25 10:23:28: BRI1/1: wait for isdn carrier timeout, call id=0xA810

*Oct 25 10:23:28: ISDN BR1/1 Q921: User TX -> INFO sapi=0 tei=66, ns=2 nr=0

*Oct 25 10:23:28: ISDN BR1/1 Q931: RELEASE pd =

*Oct 25 10:23:31: BR1/1 DDR: rotor dialout [best] also has most recent failure

*Oct 25 10:23:31: BR1/0 DDR: rotor dialout [best]

*Oct 25 10:23:31: BR1/0 DDR: Dialing cause ISDN fast roll-over

*Oct 25 10:23:42: ISDN BR1/0 Q931: DISCONNECT pd = 8 callref = 0x8B

Cause i = 0x8AD8 - Incompatible destination

------------------------

We resolved the dialling issue by removing 'ppp multilink' statement from the physical BRI interfaces, and only leaving the statement under the respective Dialer profile.

However, we need to understand the following error message seen in the debugs:

----------------------------------------

* From the debug q921/q931 from 'hqdr01' (3660) side, get the following message:

IOS: "c3660-jk9s-mz.123-16.bin"

ISDN BR1/3 **ERROR**: host_incoming_call: Incoming call id 0xCA2 rejected, exceeded allowed number of calls Current 2, Maximum 2

----------------------------------------

Reason being that even though isdn is correctly dialling, noly 3 of 4 B-channels is in use - the 4th not working possibly due to the above message.

Attached is:

-sh tech (luxemburg 2851)

-debugs (luxemburg)

-sh tech (3660)

-debugs (3660)

Re: ISDN not correctly dialling out

Hello,

my first thought is that the amount of dialer strings you have configured might cause problems. By default, the order of the numbers dialed is sequential, you might want to change that with the command:

interface Dialer0

--> dialer order last-successful

Can you also post the configuration of the router on the other side of the connection ?

Regards,

GP

Re: ISDN not correctly dialling out

Hello,

the config looks ok, let me know if the 'dialer order' command made any difference...
