ISDN switch-type changes after router reload

I posted this in the WAN/Routing section as well with no response:

We have a 2821xm router on IOS 12.3(14)T7 that is an MGCP voice gateway. The router has 1 T1 PRI ckt on a VWIC-1MFT-T1=. The ISP says the ISDN switch-type should be primary-ni. I changed the setting globally and on the Serial interface and saved the config (tried both write mem and copy run start). When the router is reloaded the isdn switch-type changes to dms-100 both globally and on the interface. Weird!!! Anyone ever seen that and more importantly know what the problem is? Thx in advance...

Re: ISDN switch-type changes after router reload

Not sure but just guessing, however maybe your IOS is supporting auto configuration on the ISDN switch type. If this is so, then possibly the switch type the carrier is providing is DMS-100 and not primary ni. Do you have an isdn test set that you can place on the line to verify the switch type. Also can you submit a show isdn stat command to see the layers that you are seeing....
