ISR G2 routers for dialin access with R2 signalling. Is that possible.?

Hi:

I 'll appreciate any tech comment about if there are any options with ISG2 Cisco routers C2911 with any  E1 interface and PVDM-XXDM

for dialin access with R2 signalling available. The idea is to install a low density Access server over E1, in a similar way

the old cisco 3640 / NM-30DM / NM-1CE1-U or even cisco2811 with NM-2CE1T1_PRI and PVDM2-24DM for example were setup for that scenarios.

I've read   the ISG2 do not support the old NMs (network modules) and the HWICs do not support R2 signalling . Means the ISG2 couldnt be used as a dialin access server with R2 signalling.

Is that correct.? Any suggestion. ?

Is there any dialin access solution for DATA not voice  (intranet connection) permiting R2 signalling for the C19/29/39 series using a 56k remote clients?.

ISDN is not the solution in our case.

Many thanks in advanced.

Regards

Agustin.

It's possible that Cisco has not tested or supported modem with E1 R2 because dialin is not very used anymore nowadays. You can ask telco for a PRI instead, or contact your local Cisco sales office to know more.

Other than that, consider that generally the best is remote access via VPN.

Hi Paolo:

Thank you very much for your reply. In fact this dialin access solution  is not usual. We usually prefer the SSL VPN access or VPN clients for many reasons.

Im gonna ask with our Cisco sales here about it .

The technical question is because ther is not any document or example and on the other hand looks there are not module options for that.

Many thanks.

Agustin.
