PRI to BRI using dialer pool-member 1

Hi,

I am facing some typical problem in dialer-pool 1 command.

We are having PRI line at one location and at another location we are having BRI line. As usuval BRI to PRI dialup is used as a backup to serial leased line.

PRI configuration is

interface serial 1/1:15

ip unnumbered loopback 0

dialer pool-member 1

....

ip address loopback 0 172.24.10.1 255.255.255.0

and dialer configured is

dialer 1

dialer-pool 1

encap ppp

dialer caller 2717823

.....

Static routes are :

ip route Remote_Network Serial 0/0

ip route Remote_Network Dialer 1 100

Remote router configuration is

bri 1

dialer pool 1

dialer 0 ( as abckup up to serial link )

ip addrss 172.24.10.2 255.255.255.0

dialer pool-member 1

dialer string 253698

ip route Network_A serial 0

ip router Network_A dialer 0 100

In this configuration ISDN call is established and also authenticated but traffic is not routed.

But when I give command in main router's dialer one.

ip unnumbered loopback 0

immedialetly routing starts.

My query is when I have made dialer 1 as a member of dialer pool 1. it should pick up ip addrss of Serial1/1:15 that is nothing but loopback 0. why a separate command is required in dialer one ?

Thanx in advance

As well you shouldn't even give any ip address to PRI interface

Re: PRI to BRI using dialer pool-member 1

It does not work like that. Pool membership is only used to determine from which physical interface a B-channel will be used by the dialer. You always have to assign an ip address to the dialer or otherwise ip processing will use this interface.
