Quick question about VPN client time-out

Hey guys, my users access the office using the Cisco VPN client software. All is fine except that the connection drops after a certain period of time.

I am thinking perhaps this is due to inactivity. Can you guys confirm?

Also, how can I specifically tell the router to drop clients connections after 45 minutes of inactivity?

thanks

Hi,

What is the VPN concentrator use?

There is a setting for the duration of connection (i.e. 4 hours, whether the connection is active or not, the concentrator will disconnect it). Also, there is a setting to disconnect idle connections (i.e. if the connection is idle for 15 minutes, the concentrator will disconnect it). All these are configurable.

Regards,

Dandy

I forgot to mention this is on a router using IOS 12.4

first, check your idle-timout. then, look at the debugs on the router and the log files on the vpn client. Keep a close eye on the ISAKMP keep alives. Look to see which side is initiating the disconnect.
