Serial protocol still DOWN when Dialer is UP

We test ISDN backup by shutdown of Serial IF. ISDN backup comes UP. When we type down no shut on Serial, IF comes UP but protocol is still DOWN. When we manually shutdown Dialer, Serial protocol comes UP. any idea?

Hi,

here are the configs.

Re: Serial protocol still DOWN when Dialer is UP

This issue almost certainly has to do with the multilink configuration on the routers.

Your initial question was somewhat underestimating the implications of this!

Please apply the verification commands as depited below to see what is really happening:

Re: Serial protocol still DOWN when Dialer is UP

Hi Richard ,

ISdn is backup for serial interface and you haven't mentioned any backup interface command under serial interface.

Please configure "backup interface bri XXX" and "backup delay X X " under serial interface on both the routers.

whenever serial link goes down , Bri comes up automatically.

As soon as serial comes up bri will turn off automatically because of backup interface command under serial IF.

Thanks,

satish
