I have a 3725 with some MICA modems and a PRI T1, with analog modems as the remote dialins. If I use the MICAs in stock mode, with "modemcap mica", then every dial-in gets stuck in "RANGING" and never actually negotiates. Based on a suggestion, maybe even in this forum a while back, I created a modemcap to lock them to V34 with the following: MSC=&F&D2S0=0S29=5S21=3S34=18000S40=10S10=50
With this they negotiate, but obviously not at the optimal data rate. Is the underlying problem something having to do with line quality at the central site? I have upgraded the MICAs to the latest firmware, 22.214.171.124., and the problem persists. I'd like to get more throughput from these connections.
I was curious if you had been able to get higher speeds. I have a 3620 with the MICA modems - same firmware 126.96.36.199 - we are using them for dialout and never get above 33.6 I have tried several changes to my modemcap and currently have MSC=&F&D2S0=0S21=15S62=8S63=3S34=18000S40=10S10=50S64=1
MICA, Nextport and recent Microcom modems support V.90 as well as K56Flex 1.1. Early revisions of Microcom modems are only capable of V.34 and need to be replaced with newer modules to give the Access Server V.90 abilities. To see if your Microcom modems are V.90 capable, check the vendor banner in the output from the show modem version command. If the following line appears, the Micorcom modems are not capable of V.90:
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
