VPN-3000 concentrator log

We're using a pair of VPN-3030's for remote access, specifically client-to-site connection. I need to see the user name for a connection that was assigned a certain address about 6 hours ago. Unfortunately, the event log will only show me an hour worth of data. Is there any other place I can look into to get that info?

Thanks.

Re: VPN-3000 concentrator log

Abid, Thanks for your response.

Below are the only choices I have under Administration-->File Management:

Swap Config File -- swap the backup and boot configuration files.

TFTP Transfer -- transfer files via TFTP.

File Upload -- send a file via HTTP.

XML Export -- export the configuration to an XML file.

Which one should I use?

Thanks.

Re: VPN-3000 concentrator log

Hi,

when u r in the file management, don't select these options, just look at the right side for the file management page, u will see a table for the log files.

Please take care for the following files:

- CONFIG.BAK, like the startup config file

- CONFIG, like the running config file

the other files are the log files. that u searching for.

I hope this is helpful.

Please rate if it does!

Thanks

Re: VPN-3000 concentrator log

Greg

On the 3000 concentrators that I support we configure them to send log messages to a lg server (the same server that does syslog for the routers and switches in the network). With this it is (relatively) easy to go back and see details like who logged in at what time and was assigned what IP address.

Re: VPN-3000 concentrator log

Look, It seems that the logging in not enabled at your device.

You need to make sure for this from Configuration --> System --> Events --> General.

And also, if you SMTP server, the VPN concentrator can send these logs to your email,, from this page also. But you need to configure your email from Configuration --> System --> Events --> Email Recipients.

In order to configure the SMTP Server Go to Configuration --> System --> Events --> SMTP Serverrs.

And if you need to configure a syslog server that the deivice will send the logs go to Configuration --> System --> Events --> Syslog Servers.

I did not mention the log server since you asked first about logging locally at the device.

Many Thanks for Rick
