1310 AP no longer supported on WCS 7.2 = Orphaned lightweight APs

After upgrading to 7.2 on my 5508 WCS, the 1310 APs will no longer join. After a call to TAC they said the 1300 and 1400 APs are no longer supported on WCS.

Is there any plan to add them back as supported in future releases?

I was thinking I could downgrade my backup 5508 and change the APs to autonomous. Or is there some easier way to make them autonomous?

There is a new 12.4 lightweight IOS for the 1300s, is it possible that would work with the 7.2 code?

Also, as a low cost outdoor AP, I guess I am reduced to putting 1262s in a NEMA box with outdoor antennas. The 1552s are way too expensive for the quantity I need. Is there some other inexpensive outdoor AP that will replace 1300-1400 series?

You mean WLC not WCS? I do believe they will not be bringing those back in to support for the newer versions of controller code. For PTP bridging, Cisco partnered up with Exalt and sells their r5005 bridges. Other than that, for true outdoor bridge there are the mesh which you already know about.

Scott,

Any advice on making my Light weight 1310's autonomous?

No mode button, and they reboot quickly so its really difficult to do anything using the CLI.

You can console or telnet/ssh and get into enable mode then issue the following

debug capwap cli no-reload

debug capwap console cli

Then use the following command to upload the IOS

archive download-sw /overwrite /reload tftp: //location/image-name

The problem is that these APs do not have enough flash storage for the lightweight AP image under 7.2 code.

I feel your pain, I ended up ordering a small license count 5508 to run 7.0 code on just for my BR-1310s.
