Hello All,

I have a client that I'm setting up two 1602e standalone AP's. They will be broadcasting the same SSID and on the same VLAN. I was wondering what is going to be the best solution for roaming for the client? I'm relatively new to aironets, but get the basics of them.

 Hi,

To activate roaming for the clients, keep all the settings same on APs

you just need to select different non-overlapping channel on both of the APs.

Hi,

No problem, Everyday is a new opportinity to learn.

Yes roaming is possible between 2 autonomous APs.

if you are using a PSK, then you just need to do is configure the AP exactly the same way, except  the IP address on the BVI interface.

if you are using 802.1x, then you would want to configure WDS for the key cachhing.

Hope it helps.

So this would mean setting up the same SSID on each AP, but select a different channel for each such as (1,6) and it shouldn't cause an issue? I keep seeing WLC in each article, but this client only has two SAP1602e and no controller in the middle.

Hi,

You have only Autonomous AP(Without need of WLC).

Just configure both with same config except IP address of BVI interface.(you can select diff channles on both AP)

***IMP*** same ssid and password should be there on both AP.

Thats all u need.
