Access point associated and deassociated from WLC

HI,

i have 3 AP AIR-LAP1042N-E-K9 in the same place (Event at down town) but they Sometimes the APs even disassociate from the controller temporarily, and i see the below errors on Prime infrastructure 2.0

Load threshold violation reported by 802.11b/g/n interface of AP <apname>, connected to controller <controllerIP>

Interference threshold violation reported by '802.11b/g/n' interface of AP

Coveraged threshold violation reported by 802.11b/g/n interface of AP <apname>, connected to controller <controllerIP>

what these problems and how to solve it

Thanks,

Ahmed

Access point associated and deassociated from WLC

HI Ahmed,

it shows that, AP has more clients than the configured load threshold in another words, A radio interface of an access point is reporting that the client load has crossed a configured threshold.

you can change the the thresold vlaue from here:

wireless>802.11b/g/n>RRM>General

check this thread:

Access point associated and deassociated from WLC

Just to add... these errors on PI doesn't reflect the reason the AP has disassociated from the WLC.  The errors are just thresholds to send alerts to PI.  You will need to look somewhere else to see why the APs are disassociating with the WLC.  Check the ports on the switch and the logs also.  If you click on the AP from the GUI, you will see an uptime and a join time.  Uptime is how long its been powered and join time is how long it has been joined.  This can help to see if the AP is loosing power or maybe network connectivity issues causing the AP to loose connectivity to the WLC.

Thanks,

Scott

Re: Access point associated and deassociated from WLC

After these error done i see that error 802.11b/g/n interface of AP is down :controller.

please as example up time is 4:00 hours and join time changed every time may be once 12 m:15 sec, may be in another time 1h:15 m:20s

please feed me back these problem related to number of connected client because i monitor when the client exceed on AP more than 25 the AP deassociated from WLC.  kindly find loggs from AP. wait your feed back.

Re: Access point associated and deassociated from WLC

I would open a TAC case then. I have seen other post in the past like this but can't find them. Since you already know what is causing the issue... Client count over 25, then TAC should be able to reproduce this or let you know if there is an open bug.

Re: Access point associated and deassociated from WLC

Dears,

this case done when i put 3 Access point at down town and behind this APs found another access point from another companies.

the 3 AP up time fixed dont change the power always up but Controller Associated Time changed every time also all AP

disassociated from controller approximately at the same time the diferrence between every one may be from 2-5 minute and some time more than 1 hour find three AP up time and ass. time

UP Time

10 h 21 m 54 s

Controller Associated Time

0 d, 01 h 42 m 27 s

UP Time

0 d, 09 h 55 m 38 s

Controller Associated Time

0 d, 00 h 42 m 58 s

UP Time

0 d, 09 h 58 m 39 s

Controller Associated Time

0 d, 02 h 09 m 41 s

Please find logg file from 3 AP. please advice if this problem related to peak time or number of user or connectivity issue or may be in the switch which connected to APs. knowing that i edit in performance profile for two AP increase the interference, clients, coverage,Coverage Exception Level and Client Min Exception Level i think without any effect (only ine effect the AP remain associated for long time but still down again)

thanks

Re: Access point associated and deassociated from WLC

It's beginning to look like a faulty cable issue. Can you specify the exact model of your Cisco switch?

Re: Access point associated and deassociated from WLC

When this happens, what is the APs "uptime"? I am suspecting you have a faulty power source or faulty cable.

If this is the case, can you specify what is the exact model of your Cisco PoE switch?

Access point associated and deassociated from WLC

I cant access the switch its for another company but Access point model AIR-LAP1042N-E-K9.

but i think if it cabling issue may be in one AP not in three at the same time

cabling issue may be in one AP not in three at the same time

Yes it can.  I've witness to situations like these before.

Exactly what is the model of the Cisco switch your APs are directly connected?

Access point associated and deassociated from WLC

one AP connected on SW 1841

and 2 AP connected on SW 2960

and today the same behaviour but i see when connected client increase the AP loose connectivity to WLC and the other 2 AP loose connectivity also after te first AP down (3 AP up time approximately same time 5 hour) but asscoiation join time deiffernt from one to another, please advice if this problem reated to Switch or access point or Connectivity issue and the loggs as the same yesterday.(already i upload it yesterday)

Access point associated and deassociated from WLC

I'm not familiar with those model of switches nor am I sure if those model support TDR

You may need to run a TDR to determine if you have a faulty cable run.
