AIR-CAP1532I in a non-mesh environment

Hi.

I'm trying to get a CAP1532I working as a "normal access point" and not in a mesh environment.
Is that possible?

If I try to get the AP joining our controller ( 5508 with 7.6.120.0 ), I get these errors:

*Mar  1 00:02:27.495: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: Go join a capwap controller
*Aug 20 10:22:44.000: %CAPWAP-5-DTLSREQSEND: DTLS connection request sent peer_ip: XX peer_port: 5246

*Aug 20 10:23:43.999: %DTLS-5-SEND_ALERT: Send FATAL : Close notify Alert to XX:5246
*Aug 20 10:23:44.031: %LWAPP-3-CLIENTERRORLOG: LWAPP LED Init: incorrect led state 255
*Aug 20 10:23:44.083: %LINK-6-UPDOWN: Interface Dot11Radio0, changed state to down

*Aug 20 10:23:46.139: %LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface Dot11Radio0, changed state to up

IP of the controller is correct through DHCP.

We don't have any mesh access points in our network and I don't think that would be possible because we have more than one country code registred.

No information in the controller log, so I don't know what to do now.

Does anyone has an idea?

Regards,

Sven

Hi,You may try this:Change

Hi,

You may try this:

Change the 1532i image to Normal Local mode by uploading a standard recovery image.

More info on AP images: http://rscciew.wordpress.com/2014/01/04/understand-access-point-ios-images/

1. Download "ap1g3-k9w8-tar.152-4.JB3.tar" or the new one "ap1g3-k9w8-tar.153-3.JA.tar"this from CCO

2. Rename it as ap1g3-k9w7-tar.default.

3. Directly connect AP ethernet to your laptop where laptop configured as 10.0.0.2/8 (with GW 10.0.0.1) & run a TFTP server on your PC.

4. Power the AP using injector while hold the RESET button for 20-30s

5. Release the RESET button & monitor the console output of your AP, you should see AP load the new image & deleting the existing one.

6. Then connect it to your network, it should register as a local mode AP.

Below explain usage of RESET button

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/1530/installation/guide/1530_ch3.html#wp1112590

This post also shoud help you on this process.

Hi,Did you add the mac

Hi,

Think that its with mesh image. yes its support local mode.

Did you add the mac address of AP to WLC ?

Add the MAC Address of the Mesh AP to the MAC Filter of the Controller
Choose Security > AAA > MAC Filtering
Click New. The MAC Filters > New page appears. Enter the MAC address of the mesh access point

From the Profile Name drop-down list, choose Any WLAN.

From the Interface Name drop-down list, choose Management interface.

after this you can change the mode of AP from bridge to local.

wireless > Access Points > All APs  click on specific AP and then go under gerneral tab, there you will see AP mode. by drop down you can change it to local mode.

------------------------------------------

Still getting probs then paste the output of these commands:

sh version from AP

sh sysinfo from WLC

By default this AP have mesh

By default this AP have mesh image and mesh AP can not join multi country configured Controller.

if you dont have much APs then you can remove country code except one and then try to connect and change its mode to local then conifigure the all country code again.

Hello. I have about 250

Hello.

I have about 250 access points in 16 different countries and to change the country codes, you need to disable all radios, so that's not possible.

Is there any other way to get a non-mesh image or configuration on the access point?

Hi,As per my knowledge there

Hi,

As per my knowledge there is no other method.

If you have another WLC(Secondary or backup) then try to connect to it and after adding convert this AP from bridge to Local , then connect with main controller.

Hi!The new image ap1g3-k9w8

Hi!

The new image ap1g3-k9w8-tar.153-3.JA.tar seems to have a problem. Got some image errors when trying with it.

The older image and your instructions worked fine. AP was in local mode and was able to connect to the WLC.

Thank you very much!
