AP352 snmp trap

Hi, my APs are directed to send snmp traps to the netview system. And when a wireless lan user gets onto the lan successfully, the corresponding AP would send a message similar to the following:

I checked the cisco snmp object navigator and it couldn't resolve the enterprise id 1.3.6.1.4.1.522, it can only go up to 1.3.6.1.4.1. Can someone please inform where I can download the mibs for this id such that "Trap found with no known format in trapd.conf(4)" can be fixed? Thanks.

Using http://jaguar.ir.miami.edu/~marcus/snmptrans.html , 1.3.6.1.4.1.522 shows to be from the AWCVX-MIB. Make sure that you have loaded the MIBs from: http://www.cisco.com/public/sw-center/sw-wireless.shtml

I have already downloaded the AP352 mibs (awcVx.mib, IEEE802_11Draft6.mib, AWC-VLAN-MIB.mib) from the cisco web before, netview accepted all three files no problem, but still can't recognize the trap. Any idea??

Loading a MIB in Netview/6000 has nothing to do with incoming traps - directly. There is a Netview utility called "mib2trap" that will read MIB files and generate a new script called "addtrap". This file will issue a bunch of single Netview addtrap commands to load each new trap.

Alternatively, you can manually add traps into Netview using the 'xnmtrap' Netview (gui) command. 1st you add the OID (1.3.6.1.4.1.522), then within that OID, add the specific trap (4 in your example) and print the important info in that trap, which is in the 4 varBinds (variable Bindings):

$4= "EAP_AuthOK "

You'll have to look at the man pages for xnmtrap and trapd.conf to make sense of the whole issue. Like most things its pretty easy, once you have mastered it :) I did over 800 in the past 4 years..........
