Bridging Autonomous AP 1200 to LWAPP 1200 with WiSM

We have a Wism with a number of converted AP1200's on it. I have a dedicated SSID for the bridge connection. I have a AP1200 in Autonomous mode that I want to use as a WGB to bridge a machine to the LWAPP network. It was working fine when it was 2 Autonomous AP's now we coneverted the one that was attached to the wired net and the connection is not working right.

Is this even possible.

Unfortunately, this is not supported. Have a look;

Q. Do LWAPP APs support WGB?

A. WGB functionality is only implemented on autonomous IOS APs, not on LWAPP APs.

The following Cisco Aironet access points have the ability to operate as autonomous access points or lightweight access points:

Cisco Aironet 1240 AG Series Access Points

Cisco Aironet 1230 AG Series Access Points

Cisco Aironet 1200 Series Access Points that contain 802.11g (AIR-MP21G-x-K9) and/or second-generation 802.11a radios (AIR-RM21A-x-K9 or AIR-RM22A-x-K9)

Cisco Aironet 1130 AG Series Access Points

Cisco Aironet 1100 Series Access Points that contain 802.11g radios (AIR-AP1121G-x-K9)

Cisco Aironet 1300 Series Access Points/Bridges (AIR-BR1310G-x-K9 or AIR-BR1310G-x-K9-R). A Cisco Aironet 1300 Series operating in LWAPP mode only operates as an access point. This series does not support LWAPP bridging mode.

The LWAPP-capable access points listed above can be ordered configured for lightweight operation, or can be upgraded from autonomous access point mode to lightweight mode using the Autonomous to Lightweight Mode upgrade tool. Orderable access points configured for lightweight operation contain an "LAP" prefix in the part number, such as AIR-LAP1310G-x-K9. Orderable access points configured for autonomous operation contain the standard "AP" prefix, such as AIR-AP1242AG-x-K9, or "BR" in the case of AIR-BR1310G-x-K9.

I dont want to use a LWAPP AP for a WGB... I want to use an IOS ap in WGB mode to connect to a LWAPP ap as a client.

Hi Jeffrey,

I'm sorry I didn't really explain that very well :( The IOS AP is unable to connect to a LWAPP AP in WGB mode. You will need to use two IOS AP's for this function.

Release 4.1 supports this now.

IOS AP : 1121 with IO 12.3.8.JEB1 (fat)

LwAPP : WLC 4402 v 4.1.185.0 with LAP 1240

not association

working for me !

IOS AP: 1131 with IOS 12.4(3g)JA1

LWAPP: WLC4404-100 v4.1.185.0 with LAP 1131 and 1242

Now trying to get it work using EAP-FAST.

Anyone tried that already ?
