Cisco 526 wireless Controller & AP AIR-AP521G-A-K9 -Question
We have several AP 521 in our main HQ building as well as our remote branch offices , totalling about 16 AP , four in our Main HQ office and one in each remote brachh. All AP at this time are Standalone devices.
We are contemplating centralized management of ALL our AP devices by implementing this 526 controller, where we can easy manage mac access-list or other settings .
Here are my questions based on reading some basic documentation on the 526 controllers:
1- I undersland these AP models and 526 Controller model are EOL, - when are these End of Support - At this time we are not planing to migrate to newer AP devices yet , perhaps in the next 2 to 3 years down the road, but definatetly SmartNET is a must on these .
2- For 526 be able to manage any AP device , does the AP device has to be converted onto LAP , is this correct?
3-As I read , the 526 controller can support up to 6 AP 521 devices , if this is the case can I for example.. say install one 526 controller in main HQ that only has FOUR AP wireless devices and be able to also manage 2 more AP devices from REMOTE offices that are not directly connected to HQ main office switches but have connectivity that are across our MPLS WAN links , or do they (the AP wireless devices ) need to be directly connected to the LAN in order for the 526 be able to manage the devices , if this is feasable then that would allow me to implement 3 526 controllers in HQ office to be able to manage all 16 AP devices from our entire company.. please correct me if this is not true.
4- And lastly, for example , say I have MAC acls applied to each of AP devices, now with teh 526 controlller if we were to go about using centralized management would I be able to create a MAC acl and tell the controller to propagate the ACL to ALL AP devices that are under its management ?
