Cisco 897VA and WiSM

Hello,

We have WiSM for WLAN deployed in our premises and we are going to open a new branch. I was thinking to install a Cisco 897VA router in the new branch but I would like centralised wireless management managed by the WiSM controller. My question is if WiSM supports the AP on the Cisco 897VA router and if it is going to be supported in the 5508 and 2504 controllers as well.

TIA,

Nicos Nicolaides

Controller software release 7.0.116.0 or later  releases support the embedded access points: AP801 and AP802, which are  the integrated access points on the Cisco 880 Series Integrated Services  Routers (ISRs).

You have wism right, which version  ?

Check the matrix again AP 801 and AP 802 is supported, its depends on the version you have your WLC.

Hi,

I never used this router for connection to AP.

May be this is not you want the answer but still.....

But i will recomamnd you to use HREAP

H-REAP is a wireless solution for branch office and remote office       deployments. H-REAP enables us to configure and control access points       (APs) in a branch or remote office from the corporate office through a WAN link       without deploying a controller in each office.

Make sure:

H-REAP is supported only on:

  • 1130AG, 1140, 1240, 1250, 1260, AP801, AP 802, 1040, and AP3550           APs

  • Cisco 5500, 4400, 2100, 2500, and Flex 7500 Series           Controllers

  • Catalyst 3750G Integrated Controller Switch

  • Catalyst 6500 Series Wireless Services Module           (WiSM)

  • Wireless LAN Controller Module (WLCM) for Integrated Services Routers           (ISRs)

Here are the diff modes and config setails.

As per this datasheet:

It supports the AP connected to this router.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps380/data_sheet_c78-519930.html

The 8-port 10/100 Fast Ethernet managed switch  offers VLAN support and 4-port support for Power over Ethernet (PoE)  (optional for certain models) to power IP phones or external access  points.

We are planning to use H-REAP for corporate access, but i dont see it anywhere in the compatibility matrix.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/controller/5500/tech_notes/Wireless_Software_Compatibility_Matrix.html

Is there any official answer?

I've got about 12 890W and all their APs are joined to the WiSM-2s running 7.6.X code.
