Client is roaming to Ap that have weaker singal

Hi,

We are testing 12 Cisco AIR-LAP1131AG-E-K9 and WLC 4002. Some clients say, that everything is working fine, but some are not happy. Their laptops are roaming to the wrong AP and their singnal is very weak. Client decive is constantly checking for closer access points. The right APs are located very nearby, but they assosiate to the AP that is on the differend floor.

How can I force them to assosiated to the nearest Ap ?

I have set the datarate 11 mbit/s basic, tried to took aggressive load balance off, and so on, but they didn't help.

change the frequency on the access point. If this does not increase his signal strength contact reseller to have a site survey done in office to see if changing the position of the access point or increasing to a higher antenna dbi will increase signal strength.

Thanks for answering..

Changing the frequency didn't help, and our reseller wasn't so keen on changing the antenna, because they dont't think that it resolves this problem. Maybe we should get couple more access points to cover the area better.

Clients decide when to roam...

unless maybe AP load balancing is your issue.

Disable AP load balancing and see what happens..
