Clients not receiving DHCP leases

Hello Experts,

I have 2100 series WLC with 7.0.240.0 version.

But I am not able to get lease out DHCP address, unable to get a DHCP lease from an external DHCP server.

I enabled the DHCP debug:

Here are few logs:

*DHCP Socket Task: Jan 22 20:21:11.397: b7:0b:a9:8c:4d:f9 DHCP option len (including the magic cookie) 72
*DHCP Socket Task: Jan 22 20:21:11.397: b7:0b:a9:8c:4d:f9 DHCP option: message type = DHCP INFORM

*DHCP Socket Task: Jan 22 20:21:11.397: b7:0b:a9:8c:4d:f9 DHCP option: 61 (len 7) - skipping

Anybody can help.

Thanks

Clients not receiving DHCP leases

Hi,

When a client is in DHCP REQ state on the controller, the controller drops DHCP inform packets. The client will not go into a RUN state on the controller until it receives a DHCP discover packet from the client. DHCP inform packets are forwarded by the controller when DHCP proxy is disabled.

Enable DHCP Proxy On WLC by using thsi command:

CLI:

(Cisco Controller) >config dhcp proxy enable

GuI:

Controller > Advanced > DHCP

Select the Enable DHCP Proxy check box to enable DHCP proxy on a global basis

Please check this, if still u r facing issue then provide more info.

Can you please paste a client debug of the client having DHCP issues.

Go to cli of the wlc and run the client debug .

Disable/Enable DHCP proxy is a system wide command it's either enabled or disabled. You can't set it per WLAN. If you are using external servers disabling proxy isn't an issue but you have to use ip helper  command configured at L3 switch.
