different ssid showing different signal

Hi,

we have created 2 ssid (public and private). but clients on public are getting disconnected meanwhile, whereas clients on private are getting full coverage without any interruption. this problem is occuring only on one AP (1602), whereas other APs are working in the network.

error log on WLC 5508

"WPA MIC Error counter measure activated on Radio with MAC  0c:68:03:1d:b2:f0 and Slot ID 0. Station MAC Address is  5c:ac:4c:91:27:22 and WLAN ID is 1"

You don't have enough information for us to help.  Post your show wlan for both ssid's.

Thanks,

Scott

Re: different ssid showing different signal

Adding to Scott ....

According to your error :

MIC error is detected the access point / controller believes something suspicious is happing on the network so it drops all of the clients off of the detecting access point for 60 seconds.
Most of the time the MIC error is caused because of dodgy wireless drivers on the Laptop / device.

Please update the wireless driver of the client and then test again.

Hope it helps
Regards

What is the power set to the 1602 and the others?

Is the 1602 an 1602I or 1602E?

Avadesh,

Scott and I are doing our darn best to help you.  Provide the "sh wlan " as Scott has requested.  Provide us with all the info necessary (we'll be the judge if information you've provided are necessary or not) and don't "drip-feed" information.

we have created 2 ssid (public and private). but clients on public are getting disconnected meanwhile, whereas clients on private are getting full coverage without any interruption. this problem is occuring only on one AP (1602), whereas other APs are working in the network.

This means that the 1602E is broadcasting the problematic SSID?  I have some obvious questions for you:

1.  How many external antennas are used by the 1602E?

2.  What is the make and model of the external antenna used?

Leo,

3 antennas used with 1602E but i think their is no problem with antennas because i have replaced other AP with same antennas in front of that and its working proper.

What is the TX Power of both radios?

Hi Leo,

Tx power level is 1 (20dbm).

Hmmmmm ... doesn't make any sense.

What device are you using to measure the signal strengths of the two SSIDs?

You've got a WLC, ok, so do you have both SSID in the same AP Group?

Another thing, do this:

1.  Disable all the radios of all your APs except ONE (1602E);

2.  Get a wireless client to join that AP on one SSID;

3.  Run the WLC command "sh client detail ";

4.  Join the second SSID;

5.  Run the WLC command "sh client detail ";

6.  Post the FULL output to both commands.

This output I got to see!

Hi,

we r using "vstumbler software on laptop" to check signal strength.

we have 5508 WLC and both ssid r in same grp.

Re: different ssid showing different signal

Probably an issue with the wireless card and the software or just the wireless card. Signal fluctuations that much is due to the card or the software, not the AP. The ap will not keep adjusting power levels. Try a different free tool.
