Guest WLAN Set for 802.11g (2.4GHz Only) but clients can connect on the 5GHz?

Hi All,

Weird situation, I have configured a free guest WLAN (no auth and tunnelled (IP Type 97) to a controller in the DMZ) to only use 802.11g only but I can see various clients connecting to the guest WLAN on the 5GHz radio interfaces 802.11a/n?

I haven't double checked the anchor controller only the foreign and under WLANs>Edit my radio policy is configured for 802.11g only.

Anyone clues on how clients are able to connect to the different frequency? Could this be the anchor configuration overriding the foreign WLC?

Controller code version - 7.4.100.60 AP type 2602's.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Clients associate to access points on the foreign WLC... so in order to only allow 2.4ghz, you need to change the guest wlan on the foreign and the anchor (best practice) to 2.4ghz only.

Thanks,

Scott

Yes, check both anchor & foreign WLC configured in sameway, ie just select 802.11g as radio policy of the WLAN.

Controller code version - 7.4.100.60 AP type 2602's.

On a sidenote, the version you are running is not stables & having lots of critical bugs. Go for 7.4.121.0 code for better wireless service.

It is quite possible you may be hitting a bug, if ap group used.
