Help needed to configure H-REAP with local switching

Hi All,

We are using following devices for campus Wi-fi.

1. WLC - 4402

2. AP (1131ag, 1042n) which support H-REAP.

I want to configure HREAP central auth and local switching. I have enabled from local to HREAP after that I go to HREAP tab and native vlan 1 (by default)(I have changed native vlan 1 to 51.) vlan support is enabled. then click on vlan mapping and my wlan (guestwlan) is there with vlan id 24.

I have assigned static IP to AP (192.168.51.40/24 gw 192.168.51.254).

DHCP is running on controller.

switch port configure is below:

interface FastEthernet0/18

description WiFi access point

switchport trunk native vlan 51

switchport mode trunk

no ip address

end

Issue : authentication done through RADIUS (Cisco ACS 4.2) but no getting IP address from DHCP.

Please help.

Thanks in Adv.

Thanks,

AS

Help needed to configure H-REAP with local switching

"DHCP is running on controller"

//With local switching, It is expected that after Auth success, Wireless DHCP requests from client goes to the AP connected switch 'off capwap' at the remote site and doesn't hit the controller. So have local DHCP server at that site.

Hi AS,

Do not use the DHCP on the WLC.

Use a DHCP on the neighbor swtich if possible for the native VLAN.

Help needed to configure H-REAP with local switching

I don't have any DHCP server running, is there any possibility that I can use controllers DHCP server?

Help needed to configure H-REAP with local switching

No. You must have a DHCP server in the local site.

Help needed to configure H-REAP with local switching

wlc's dhcp server supports dhcp for flexconnect locally switched clients, unfortunately that feature is not available for 7.0 code.

convert one of the ap to ios or use tftpd that runs dhcp service. as temp. measure try configuring dhcp on lwapp ap, though it may or may not work and the config does not sustain reboot.

Re: Help needed to configure H-REAP with local switching

Another option is to run dhcp services from your Cisco switch ..

Help needed to configure H-REAP with local switching

I have configure HDCP server in windows 2k3 and its working fine but  issue is with roaming. when client roaming, it does not renew IP address  autometically, I have switch off and on Wi-Fi.

Any idea?

Re: Help needed to configure H-REAP with local switching

At your local site, the vlan mappings when the client roams needs to be the same or else roaming breaks. So if a client roams from AP a to AP b, those APs need to map the WLAN to the same vlan.

If I want to use controller's dhcp server, is it possible to give controller's IP address through ip helper command on neighbor switch?
