Hi friends,

could anyone tell me how to test Cisco 1252G-E-K9 wireless access point's 802.11/N capability. we have bunch of these models configured on 802.11/g and connected to WLC. Thanks

Well the most you can get out of the 2.4ghz will be 144mbps. You either need to use open authentication or wpa2/aes for 802.11n. Also on the SSID, you need to make sure WMM is enabled. To test, simply connect an 802.11n compatible device to the SSID and look at your connection. Anything over 54mbps connection, you are using 802.11n. Some devices will show you 'N', but some will just show connection speed.

Thanks Scott for your reply as i mentioned that we have already deployed 1252G APs currently they are configured to support 802.11g/a and we want to move them to N. now i want to configure one of the AP to test the speed and compatibility with laptops and phone devices. Thanks

Okay, the ap model you posted is just a 2.4ghz. 1252AG-E-k9 is dual band. So the question is, do you have it configured correctly or not? To test you you need an 802.11n device and you need to try to connect to the 5ghz (300 Mbps) max or the 2.5ghz (144 Mbps) max.

how to test cisco 1252G-E-K9 access point 802.11/N capability

Configure 802.11n on the WLC

Troubleshoot 802.11n Speeds

Not all devices can support 802.11n.  Smartphones (such as Android or all Apple iPhones) and tablets (Android and all Apple iPads and iTouch) cannot and will not support 802.11n speed.  Read the article below.
