Issue regarding WLC and ACS (RADIUS) authentication method

Hi guys,

There is any option to configure WLC to authenticate with the ACS(RADIUS) without using Certificate?

And if so, can you please send me the guide for it.

Thanks

Regards,

Hello Liad,

would you please confirm if you want to configure authentication for WLC login through radius?

or WLAN login?

Kind regards

Issue regarding WLC and ACS (RADIUS) authentication method

Hello Again,

if you want to configure radius server to manage WLC itself / login for WLC , please follow this guide

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/tech/tk722/tk809/technologies_configuration_example09186a0080782507.shtml

but if you want to use it for WLAN login. you can use EAP-FAST or LEAP.

here is document for EAP-fast configuration

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/ps6366/products_configuration_example09186a00808e5d6b.shtml

for leap , WLC configuration is same , the difference would be on client. and on ACS to add the chexbox that allow LEAP.

hope this helps

Issue regarding WLC and ACS (RADIUS) authentication method

I need to authenticate a user via the radius server(not the WLC)

I dont need to authenticate a user for the WLC..

Just a normal user that need to gain access to the WLAN.

If you use any type of radius for wireless user authentication, then you most likely will be using 802.1x, which does require a certificate.  Even if you did local ACS users, the ACS would require a certificate installed for 802.1x.  If you do not wish to use a certificate, then you would have to go with pre-shared keys and you wouldn't be using the readius.

Issue regarding WLC and ACS (RADIUS) authentication method

Hello Fella

it depend on the protocol used

EAP-TLS ->> require 2 certificate

PEAP ->> require 1 certificate (server)

EAP-FAST ->> no certificate required , can use PAC's

LEAP , only require usernam and password , but works only with some utility ->> not working with default windows zero configuration , same applies to EAP-FAST.

Kind regards

I know... just being specific to what is normally used.  I didn't want to get Liad confused on this subject.
