We have a machine intel core duo macbook pro machine running mac OS X 10.4.5. We are using encryption IEEE802.1x WEP with PEAP-mschapv2 authentication.

The authentication passed. And a show dot1 association all-clients have the correct ip address for the mac OS X client. However, a ifconfig at the macbook pro machine show 169.254.x.x (not able to get ip address from dhcp server).

We have tried successfully with WPA2/AES with PEAP-mschapv2. We got the correct ip address when issue ifconfig.

Did anyone has meet similar problem?

Any advise is highly appreciated.

Check the option 43 in DHCP server, Verify the vlan configuration

not sure how option 43 in DHCP server can help, can you explain a little bit more.

I have my support staff all telling me they've been unable to the new Intel Macs onto the network. So I too am having the same problem. (I just have not expericanced first hand, no Mac laptops for me)

I had problems with Macbook Pros using 802.1X EAP-PEAP. The following resolved the problem:

Upgrade to 10.4.6

Upgrade to the latest firmware

Sometimes for 802.1x to work properly on a Mac you need to use the Internet Connect utility (in Applications > Utilities). From there choose File and New 802.1x Connection.
