MSE3310 not tracking clients/interferers

Hi All,

I have WCS 7.0.164.0 and MSE3310 with CAS and wIPS licensing. The WCS is configured to see the MSE, NMSP status is active, CAS and wIPS are up and enabled.

Tracking parameters on the CAS have been configured.

CAS Notifications have been created and tested

Services have been synchronised (Network Designs, Controllers, Event Groups)

But I cannot locate any clients or interferers.

What config am I missing?

Are you on the recommended software verison as per http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/wcs/release/notes/WCS_RN7_0.html#wp68364

Could you please post the screenshot of the issue that you are talking about?

The WLC can see clients.

(Cisco Controller) >show client summary

Number of Clients................................ 1

It could be the version of software on the MSE 6.0.102 has a bug.

see the following thread:

https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2041721

and a Cisco answer here:

https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-13521

Regards

Paul

Paul,

Thanks for the response - I have just upgraded to 6.0.105.0 and still no luck.

I will have another look over the configuration guide to see if I am missing something.

Any other thoughts?

Dan

Can someone confirm that I should be able to see clients/interferers with the 3502 CAP configured for Local AP Mode?

I believe that this is the minimum requirement to track clients through RSSI. If I desire, I can configure a couple of APs in monitor mode and configure TDOA.

Thanks

According to the cleanair documentation:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps10315/products_tech_note09186a0080b4bdc1.shtml

to enable the MSE for cleanair - you need to choose interference tracking and reporting.

When I look at the same page on my WCS, I do not see the option to select the interferers. As you can see, the MSE is not able to see any clients.

This is the NTP configuration on the MSE - this is the same NTP server that is configured on the WLC and the WCS

[root@enet-mse etc]# ping 10.64.1.1
PING 10.64.1.1 (10.64.1.1) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 10.64.1.1: icmp_seq=1 ttl=255 time=0.525 ms
64 bytes from 10.64.1.1: icmp_seq=2 ttl=255 time=0.450 ms

[root@enet-mse etc]# more /etc/ntp.conf
# deny-by-default policy
restrict default ignore

# servers to synchronize from
server 10.64.1.1

# client-only configuration
restrict 10.64.1.1 nomodify nopeer noquery notrap

# local fudge if network servers not available
server  127.127.1.0     # local clock
fudge   127.127.1.0 stratum 10

restrict 127.0.0.0 mask 255.0.0.0 nomodify nopeer noquery notrap

# track wander
driftfile /var/lib/ntp/drift

authenticate no
[root@enet-mse etc]#

It does not appear as though the MSE is able to sync with the NTP server;

[root@enet-mse etc]# ntpq -p
localhost.localdomain: timed out, nothing received
***Request timed out
[root@enet-mse etc]#

- How did you get to the 6.0.105 version ?

- What version of WLC do you have ?

Reason I ask how you upgraded is that, the software that is sent out with the new MSE is 6.0.75. (which is removed from cisco.com). If you have upgraded from this version, you are likely to see lot of issues.

Solution to this issue is that:

- Uninstall 6.0.75.0

- rm -rf /opt/mse

- Now install the 6.0.105 version.

Let me know how this goes.

Pari,

Thanks for the response, I got the newer verison through our service contract, I followed the upgrade process in the CAS configuration documentation.

I will try your suggestion and let you know how it goes.

Regards,

I have upgraded as advised - but I still cannot see the option to select

interferers in the Tracking Parameters window.

Thanks Pari,

According to that table, it looks like I will have to download/upgrade 7.0.105.

I will do that shortly and let you know.
