need help to understan how cisco routers use ANS.1 with snmp

my routers are managed by HP NNM 6.0 i have ios 12.1.1 in almost all my routers, i was asked by my management-system sofware provider, what version of snmp my routers support and how cisco use de SMI rules to allow a managment system to communicated with the cisco routers.
